Initech Global is looking for a Maintenance Programmer for a direct hire position for their client in the greater Kalamazoo, MI area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and troubleshoot all aspects of robots and automated systems – mechanical as well as electrical. Service and repair both hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Analyze equipment problems and troubleshoot electrical components and systems, identify faulty equipment, and acquire parts and equipment to complete repairs.
May perform low, mid and even high-level programming and reprogramming of robots, PLC controlled equipment and CNC machines to improve machine operations.
Modify computer-controlled motion of robots.
Repair of production equipment from basic hydraulic equipment to complex CNC machinery, performing both electrical and mechanical work.
Repairing critical equipment, performing preventive and predictive maintenance and completing projects such as mechanical and electrical hardware and software upgrades.
Communicating accurately, concisely and professionally with your customer as to important repair steps taken, parts ordered and time estimated until completion.
Participating in daily shift meetings, prioritizing and reviewing work orders to scheduled daily work.
Keep records of test procedures and results, service schedules, repairs, etc.
Train other technicians and skilled workers to operation, program, repair and service automated equipment. Demonstrate equipment operations, work, quality, PPE and safety procedures to new employees.
Establish an in-house maintenance and repair program.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment in alignment with internal 5-S.
Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
Knowledge, Education, Skills, Abilities and Previous Experience
Associate’s degree or equivalent training and experience in electrical, mechanical, robotics.
Must have at least 3 years’ experience working in an automotive manufacturing environment or in metals manufacturing industry strongly preferred.
Must have working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and hydraulic operation, maintenance and repair.
Must understand computers, electrical and electronic systems, sensor and feedback principles and how robots work as machines.
Must have logical thinking skills, problem solving skills and troubleshooting skills.
Able to express basic electronic, mechanical and hydraulic principles used in electrical and mechanical maintenance technician work assignments.
Able to express intelligently core hydraulic and electrical principles.
Extensive experience in PLC and CNC programming, with an emphasis on improving machine throughput while maintaining safety and high quality standards.
Experience troubleshooting robotics.
Kuka robotics experience is preferred.
Basic Microsoft Office knowledge and/or Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) knowledge is preferred.
Excellent verbal/written communication, and customer service skills.
Highly disciplined, problem-solver, logical thinking, troubleshooting team player with strong work ethic.
Able to lift and carry products and/or equipment of up to 50 pounds.
Must have good eyesight and color vision are needed to inspect and work on small, delicate parts and good hearing to detect malfunctions revealed by sound.
Must be able to work without close supervision. Knowledge of OSHA and workplace health and safety program.
Knowledge and understanding of TS quality systems and 5S.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong team player.
Production areas may be noisy, hot, dirty or have high levels of dust or fumes.
Attention to safety is critical as automated machines are capable of quick, sudden movements.
May be on call around the clock.
